Competition Guidelines

Deadlines: Submission of Completed application and the actual report must be done by -------. All applications must be accompanied by the processing fee of $95.00.   First round notifications for successful reports will be made by -----------.  Finalist notifications will occur on -------------.   At this time the finalists will be notified and have the option of attending a ceremony in their honor.
 
Eligibility :

To be eligible for this competition, students must be entering into or be in their junior and/or senior high school year, having completed an aspect of an extended research project. This will be certified by the student’s high school advisor or the research advisor at the laboratory where the work was performed. Each applicant must also be at a satisfactory academic level of performance (C+ or better) at their respective schools.

Prizes

First Place winner will receive a $4000 scholarship with a $1000 award going to the High School or Research Facility that sponsored the student’s research.

Second Place winner will receive a $2000 scholarship with a $500 award going to the High School or Research Facility that sponsored the student’s research.

Third Place winner will receive a $1000 scholarship with a $200 award going to the High School or Research Facility that sponsored the student’s research.

There will be five (5) Honorable Mention certificates awarded to the runners up.

 
Instructions for Entry:

· Step 1: To enter the IYSC competition, you must first register and set up your account with an email address and a password. You will then be asked to complete an online form providing contact information for the student, a parent or guardian, the student’s High School and advisor, and the student’s research mentor. A paper version of the form is below to facilitate the collection of required information.  Please note that mailed applications will not be accepted.

· Step 2: The entry fee for the IYSC competition is $95 USD per entry. This must be paid either through a credit card or by a bank transfer. Details are available on the payment screen, which is available after registration.

· Step 3: After registration and payment have been completed, you will be required to submit your research manuscript online. Any graphs or figures will be submitted as separate files. You will be asked to provide some preliminary information about your research report.  A paper version of the information needed can be found below. Detailed instructions for the preparation of your manuscript can also be found in the downloadable file section found at the bottom of this page.

· Step 4: After your manuscript has been submitted, your research advisor/mentor will be contacted and asked to certify the research project and attest to your participation.  A paper version of the information required is available for download below for informational purposes only.  Certification will take place online, after the manuscript has been approved as meeting the minimum requirements.
